This is something that I love. I am a little bit of a "health nut" or "crunchy" as some people know. I do have my weaknesses that I cave for, but generally I like eating healthy. I like feeling good, and not having to worry if my body isn't going to appreciate what I giving it. And this is one of those things that makes me feel so good, and I know it does.
I had been wanting to start this for a while, for about the past 7 months or so, but that was the same time that we were moving, and then when we got here I needed some time to settle in and have this feel like home. But finally about 2 weeks ago I decided that I wasn't going to wait around anymore for the "perfect circumstances" but do what I needed to to take care of my body.
So out came the canning jars and nylon and I bought a whole bunch of seeds. Nuts, grains, legumes, and it all got set up on the counter. It was quite the display for a few days. It took a little trial and error to figure out the right amounts to start out with, but it has been working well.
I have come to love the edible seeds we have. They are so full of life, energy and vitality that is just waiting to be released. In fact, at least in the research that I have done, I have come to believe they are one of the best sources for nearly all our nutritional and energy needs, so long as the proper things have been done to activate all that power. I am not discounting other food, it is necessary too. But I from my own experience, when I don't eat my sprouted oat groats in my oatmeal for breakfast, I feel hungry more often, so I eat more and I want less healthy foods. And I love those ones for breakfast because they are very nearly flavourless, with little texture as well. Almond soaks are great too!
So here is my plug for the sprout, the neglected super-food!
